And--so--but--because

We use conjunctions (linking words) to join two sentences. Four common conjunctions are "and", "so", "but", "because".

We ran to class, but we were still late.
We ran to class because the bell was going to ring.
We ran to class, so we arrived on time.
We ran to class, and sat down quickly.
